WISE is a web-based inquiry science environment that allows teachers to create a new or modify and use an existing web-based inquiry project that guides students through a real-world, problem-based experience surrounding scientific concepts. After selecting or creating a project, teachers can invite students to participate in the project, track their progress, view their submissions and scores and assign grades to individuals or teams. Teachers also have the power to send announcements and reminders to students as well as to export student data to an excel file that shows grades, submissions and time spent on each activity.

MakeBeliefsComix is a fantastic instructional tool, especially as a vehicle for story-based learning and co-construction of meaning. The dialogic potential of MakeBeliefsComix is infinite. Disciplines—from World Language to Social Studies to STEM—can profit from the intrinsic motivation implied in a ‘fun’ medium like [program name], where student interaction can be channeled productively in the creation of meaningful verbal exchange concretized in image. The potential for reflective content, as well as humor, is vast, and at one’s fingertips. Ease of use and user-friendliness with MakeBeliefsComix are incomparable, so children will undoubtedly hit the ground running within seconds and quickly generate genuine artifacts of learning.

Citizen Science

Citizen science is a scientific research project conducted by crowdsourcing, in whole or in part, by amateur or nonprofessional scientists. What this means: students can be like real scientists. They can experience being a part of the field and also contribute to it. There are many citizen science projects that are suitable for the classroom. Citizen science is a great way for teachers to incorporate content, technology, and real life applications into their lessons. Come see what it’s about and how you can use it in your classroom.

schoology

Schoology has the same look and feel as Facebook, so most students will feel comfortable using the site. In addition, it allows teachers to post attendance and grades viewable by individual students on their home pages. Teachers and students have access to their own class periods, which means teachers may post discussion topics, homework, and links for specific classes, which they cannot do on the similar site Edmodo. Parents can request access codes, too, in order to check their students' progress. Schoology also offers an app for Android, iPhone, and iPad.
